Twelve years ago, I was working inside a luxury jewellery boutique, watching people linger outside. Their eyes sparkled with curiosity, but their feet rarely crossed the threshold. I remember thinking: how many people feel like jewellery is not for them because it's too expensive, too exclusive, too intimidating? They admired from a distance, drawn to the brilliance in the windows, yet something prevented them from entering. It wasn't hesitation for the sake of it, but discomfort—an uncertainty about whether they belonged. It was as if, without the intention to buy, they weren't even welcome to look.
