Italian Elegance: The Best Jewellery Looks of the Venice Film Festival 2025
We’ve learned to manage our high jewellery expectations when it comes to red carpet dressing in recent years. Often, the looks are somewhat safe, diamond-oriented and a little restricted to a collective of big-name brands. The 82nd Venice International Film Festival followed this pattern with a super clean and minimalistic aesthetic, denying the opportunity for more outlandish jewels to shine. Despite this, there were some highlights that hit the red carpet from August 27 to September 6. Here’s our pick of the best high jewellery looks of the Venice Film Festival 2025, including the likes of Emily Blunt, Riley Keough, and Shailene Woodley.
Although we’d always advocate for jewellery to be the star of the show here at KaterinaPerez.com, it’s true that for most international red-carpet occasions, like the Venice Film Festival, the outfit comes first and the accessories second. This year, the ‘Floating City’ welcomed a host of Hollywood and international stars, all vying for attention in crisp, sharp and immaculately tailored ensembles. Tailored feminine suits, sleek columns of silk, structured bodices, and artfully constructed gowns were the order of the day, often in shades of black, navy, cream, taupe and chocolate brown. Elevated simplicity appeared to be en vogue, which had a direct knock-on effect on the jewels chosen to accompany such refined looks.

In the vast majority of cases, there was nothing outlandish to speak of, just elegant and sophisticated sweeps of diamonds, the occasional cocktail ring, a drop earring or a collar necklace. Coloured gemstones were (at least among the most famous attendees) few and far between, which is a real shame… especially considering Venice’s history as the endpoint on the medieval Silk Road. Think about the incredible wealth of fabrics, spices, ornamental goods, and treasures that have passed along its canals in centuries gone by! If only we could see this explosion of luxury in a more modern context.
But enough complaining, because it certainly wasn’t all bad. Many famous faces chose big, recognisable motifs from leading brands, perhaps to lean into the minimalist, uber-chic aesthetic. Actress Amanda Seyfried arrived at the premiere of her new movie ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’ wearing a strapless navy Prada gown and a Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Rock brooch, which she had affixed to a black satin choker. This piece is crafted in platinum and 18k yellow gold with a diamond of over 11 carats, a pink sapphire and further diamonds. She paired this with a simple pair of diamond solitaire stud earrings and a second Bird on a Rock, this time in ring form with an unenhanced yellow sapphire of over 11 carats, alongside diamonds and rubies.

Other stars who chose the most quintessential ‘calling cards’ of well-known brands include actress and director Greta Gerwig, who wore a Pomellato Catene High Jewellery necklace with more than 1,900 diamonds totalling upwards of 37 carats to the premiere of ‘Jay Kelly’. Similarly, actress Shailene Woodley turned heads at the same screening in a classic little black dress and a Bvlgari Serpenti High Jewellery necklace, set with onyx, chrysoprase, turquoise, buff-top emeralds, an 11.03 carat pear-shaped spinel, and 20.29 carats of pavé-set diamonds. On her finger, she wore a complementary Serpenti High Jewellery ring with a 5.72 carat pear-shaped spinel, onyx, emeralds and diamonds. The star returned to Bvlgari at the screening of another film, ‘Motor City’, this time pairing a shimmering Fendi gown with a Serpenti necklace and bracelet in 18k yellow gold and diamonds, plus a fancy-shaped amethyst cabochon ring.
There are even more examples of stars choosing quintessential looks from illustrious maisons and designers, such as Heidi Klum at the premiere of ‘La Grazia’ wearing a Lorraine Schwartz choker with round brilliant-cut and marquise-shaped diamonds with a pear-shaped diamond drop. Chloë Sevigny also stood out for her pick of Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. jewels, including a necklace with 79 carats of diamonds, a pair of 17-carat diamond earrings and a 10-carat diamond ring at the ‘After the Hunt’ premiere. For another event earlier in the day, she chose a blush pink Simone Rocha dress with floral-inspired Schlumberger earrings and a bracelet, both in 18k yellow gold and platinum.
Speaking of Tiffany & Co., let’s turn our attention to British actress Emily Blunt, who wowed at the premiere of ‘The Smashing Machine’ in a pair of earrings from the 2024 Blue Book collection, set with more than seven carats of red spinels, four carats of pink spinels and diamonds. She paired these elaborate drops with a 15-carat diamond ring in platinum and a five-carat red spinel and diamond ring in platinum and 18k yellow gold. Similarly, Mia Goth also looked sensational in a combination of chocolate brown and Tiffany & Co. diamonds, emeralds and white precious metals. Her necklace was the perfect counterpoint to her structured gown, although we still can’t quite decide if the combination of colours works well or misses the mark.

Brands that enjoyed an exceptional festival were Chopard and Cartier (with Louis Vuitton and Chanel also performing strongly). Longtime Chopard devotee and Venice debutant Julia Roberts wore a midnight blue Atelier Versace gown to the premiere of ‘After the Hunt’, paired with Chopard Red Carpet collection earrings featuring 36.15 carats of diamonds in platinum and titanium and a High Jewellery bracelet with 44.43 carats of sapphires and 22.66 carats of diamonds. For Cartier, its best ambassador was undoubtedly Riley Keough, who stepped out at the ‘Jay Kelly’ premier wearing the Cafayate necklace from the new En Équilibre High Jewellery collection, set with Umba sapphires, fancy colour sapphires, diamonds and opal cabochons, set in 18k yellow and rose gold.
Further looks were notable for their refinement, especially when it came to earrings. Look to Cate Blanchett in a pair of Louis Vuitton Optimisme High Jewellery earrings, Monica Barbaro in pear-shaped diamond drops by Chopard, Ayo Edebiri in archways of diamonds by Chanel High Jewellery, and Alicia Vikander, also in Louis Vuitton. Personally, I loved British actress Nathalie Emmanuel in a pair of Chopard Temptations earrings with 29.03 carats of pear-shaped aquamarines, a further 3.52 carats of aquamarines, and 2.30 carats of sapphires set in 18k white gold, which she coupled with a 40.20-carat Asscher-cut diamond necklace.
Although I’d love to end this article on a men’s round-up, there wasn’t much lapel action to speak of in Venice! Men appeared to showcase their stylish personalities through clothes rather than accessories, such as colourful smoking jackets, clashing prints, wide leg trousers, and suits in unexpected shades like pale blue and mocha brown. Perhaps, next year, we will see more bejewelled adornments.
