Pink City Style: The Best-Selling Reversible Jewels of Gyan Jaipur
If there's one thing I think modern jewellery customers crave more than anything else, it's versatility. The idea that a pair of earrings or a necklace can only be worn on one specific occasion and then must spend the rest of the year locked away is something that has fallen out of fashion. Gyan Jaipur caught my attention at the recent Couture show in Las Vegas thanks to its reversible earrings, which are not only beautiful but adaptable to your chosen mood or wardrobe. Later, the brand went on to secure second place in the 'Best in Coloured Gemstones Above $40k' category, so clearly, I wasn't the only one impressed! Here, I would like to tell you more about the brand, its origin story, design inspirations and its popular Jaipur and Yami collections.
Have you ever been to the Pink City? This is the nickname given to Jaipur thanks to its incredible blush-coloured architecture, which has been inspiring artisans since the late 19th century. Gyan Jaipur is immersed in this cultural richness and always adds a little touch of the city into its fine jewellery collections. Its story begins with fourth-generation jewellers in 2017 who wanted to channel the traditions and skilled know-how of Indian craftsmanship into something more modern and with a Western aesthetic. Gyan Jaipur developed out of this mission, blending themes and motifs that are unique to Jaipur with innovative silhouettes, like its reversible earrings (although more on those later).

A great example of this is the Sarai collection, which pays tribute to the jalis, perforated stone screens that are integral to Indian architecture. Earrings and cuff bracelets have an openwork structure, set with coloured gemstones in all colours of the rainbow, complemented with diamonds. This sense of lightness is also mirrored in the Jaipur Arch collection, which celebrates the intricate Mehrab designs that are part of Jaipur's architectural heritage. Looking at a pair of pentagonal Jaipur Arch earrings, the first thing you see is a contemporary mix of gold and coloured gemstones. However, beneath the surface, there's a deeper story that touches on Jaipur's historic forts and palaces, its museum-worthy artworks, and the symbolism of spiritual connection and direction that can be found in royal tradition. Personally, I love how jewellery can be so complex and so wearable all at the same time!
Speaking to the brand, I discovered that its team is guided by the principle that each gemstone has life; therefore, to "craft a jewel means to craft a life". This attitude has a direct impact on sourcing and choosing to work more consciously and sustainably. I think it also plays out in the brand's One-of-a-Kind (OOAK) pieces, which present fancy-cut coloured gemstones, hexagonal diamonds, carved emeralds, and asymmetrical colourways in characterful jewels. The roots of these pieces are in classical silhouettes, but there's always a little Gyan Jaipur twist that demonstrates the technical expertise of the brand. A great example of this is the OOAK Emerald Kite earrings, which achieved second place in the Couture Design Awards 2025.

The brand's two most popular collections are Jaipur and Yami, the latter being a recent launch. Jaipur is influenced by the colourful textiles and patterns found in the Gyan Museum, including Mughal period paintings in which women wear bright, elaborate garments. This collection is all about celebration, so that's why it's so full of colour in the form of pendants, earrings, rings and bracelets. There's a kind of disco ball energy about the Jaipur rings and pendants, which cover rounded surfaces in approximately 3 carats of oval-shaped gems. The chosen colour – peridot green, citrine orange, or sapphire blue – is contrasted with pinpoints of a second colour, either turquoise cabochons, creamy pearls or pink opal, to add depth.
It's here that we can see the first examples of Gyan Jaipur's top-selling reversible earrings, in this case, egg-like shapes that hug the earlobe with different designs and colours on either side. Imagine that each half of the shell hugs the ear, obscuring the post that goes through a piercing and providing a three-dimensional look. In this collection, one side of the earring is more reserved, with smooth surfaces of precious metal dusted with diamonds in star-shaped settings. The other side is more colourful, with your choice of amethyst, citrine, peridot, ruby and sapphire, all with their colourful cabochon accents.

Akhil Dhaddha, the Creative Director of Gyan Jaipur, tells me: "The idea of reversible jewellery was born from our desire to offer versatility and storytelling in every piece. Inspired by the vibrant contrasts of Jaipur and the symbolic duality in Indian mythology, we created designs that reflect both celebration and subtlety—allowing our customers to express different moods with one jewel. The concept has resonated deeply because it combines functionality with elegance, offering two distinct looks in a single design."
Seeing the success of this concept, Gyan Jaipur recently launched the Yami collection. This is composed purely of reversible earrings with tapered, oval, and wave-shaped designs. "These earrings have already been met with a wonderfully positive response for both their craftsmanship and deeper meaning," Akhil tells me. I think what strikes me about the range is its diversity, ranging from vintage-looking textured yellow gold with diamonds, cool gradients of blue sapphires, playful neon pink sapphires, and softer waves of green gems with diamonds. There's a pair of Yami earrings for every occasion… not to mention two looks in one. I'm not surprised to hear that these new pieces were very well received in Las Vegas, too.

Gyan Jaipur is now officially on my radar, and I expect we will see a lot more from this growing brand in the future. If you appreciate the duality of both Indian and Western influences, history, culture and a colourful palette of minerals in versatile designs (plus a beautiful selection of unique high jewels), then this is a name to add to your Instagram follow list!
