Millionaire Products: Celebrating the No-Expense-Spared Bvlgari Polychroma High Jewellery Collection
On May 6, I received an email from Bvlgari about the jewellery certain stars were wearing to the Met Gala. Just another newsletter, I thought, BUT a photo caught my eye with Priyanka Chopra wearing one of the largest, highest-quality cut emeralds I had ever seen – and my heart started racing. "What kind of extraordinary beauty was this?" I took a closer look at the email subject line: Bvlgari is opening a magnificent new chapter in the world of high jewellery, and high jewellery watches with the Polychroma collection. Here's what I have discovered so far…
This collection is indeed an ode to the rich colour palette, multidimensionality and splendour of precious stones. It was conceived encompassing 600 sketches, 250 of which have already been brought to life. Sixty pieces in the Polychroma collection have received the exclusive status of ‘million-dollar’ creations, which breaks the record for the number of items at this level and cost. Personally, I haven’t seen a collection of this scale in the jewellery industry for 15 years.

Magnus Emerald
Let's get back to the incredible, high-quality Colombian emerald that I mentioned at the very beginning of this article. Named the Magnus Emerald, this mineral is one of the finest stones ever mined in Colombia and the largest emerald ever used in a Bvlgari creation, totalling 241.06 carats! A beautiful necklace with a 1970s aesthetic was built around this bright green stone to highlight its exceptional brilliance and transparency. Despite its size, it maintains an elegant allure and doesn't seem to overwhelm Priyanka Chopra's petite frame at all. This is a sensational celebration of nature and a reminder to create without limits.
Cosmic Vault
The second incredible Polychroma necklace was also showcased at the Met Gala by Bvlgari ambassador Anne Hathaway. I have always been particularly fond of the sugarloaf cut, so I immediately fell in love with the Cosmic Vault necklace featuring a 123.35-carat Sri Lankan sapphire of intense royal blue colour. This fascinating jewellery masterpiece consists of over 200 elements that ensure its incredible mobility and wearability as it follows the body's every curve.
In addition to the central sapphire, it is adorned with 13 diamond drops and 331 custom-cut sapphires that follow the shape of the necklace (each small sapphire was cut by hand, which took not hours but days of work). Lucia Silvestri, Jewellery Creative Director of Bvlgari, drew inspiration for this piece from watching celestial constellations and iconic Roman domes against the night sky. As an aside, the central sugarloaf stone seen here is reminiscent of Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic Bvlgari necklace with a 66-carat showstopper. What better way to highlight the timeless appeal of such a classically cut corundum?

Polychromatic Bloom
An ode to beauty and femininity, Polychromatic Bloom is filled with a distinctly Italian zest for life. According to Lucia Silvestri, this vibrant creation has become "one of the emblems of Polychroma", which is reaffirmed by the recognisable signature design and giant juicy cabochons. The central rubellite of 106.36 carats is accompanied by a peridot of 55.52 carats and a tanzanite of 55.11 carats – what an incredible trio! Set in pink gold, these precious stones boast extraordinary transparency and depth of colour, surrounded by blooming petals.
Celestial Mosaic
In alignment with the multicultural and versatile spirit of the collection, the Celestial Mosaic necklace reinterprets the enormous 8th-century Tree of Life mosaic found on the floor of Hisham's Palace in Jericho, Palestine. The central 131.21-carat spinel, the world's fourth largest and the first in quality, radiates a kaleidoscope of hues reflected from the incredibly rare deep turquoise tourmalines, emeralds, onyx and diamonds. This vibrant, outstanding piece, reminiscent of Mughal art, features nearly 200 elements connected with flexible joints that ensure a perfect fit. This heavenly necklace marries true boldness with timeless grace.
Polychroma reaches its pinnacle through the Gallery of Wonders, where five one-of-a-kind creations come to life, each a masterpiece crafted from the rarest, most unique gems. Working with these gifts of nature, which possess such rarity and exceptional features, fills me with wonder every day. – Lucia Silvestri, Bvlgari Jewellery Creative Director

Essence of Yellow
Hardly any jewel can rival the spectacle of a necklace, but this 45-carat vivid yellow diamond ring surely is an exception. A new interpretation of the iconic Trombino ring, first designed in the 1930s, it features a distinctive layout, with a central gem surrounded by baguette diamonds and a pavé. This yellow diamond is one in eight million, found twice a decade at most. Given the gem's unrivalled colour intensity, Bvlgari has moved away from the classic faceted cut usually used for coloured diamonds, opting for an architectural Asscher cut to give the piece a bolder look.
Polychroma represents an extraordinary source of pride for all of us at Bvlgari. A unique collection that embodies the very essence of our Maison. Each creation is an extraordinary testament to our colourful and vibrant DNA, a celebration of the boldness that has always set Bvlgari apart. – Jean-Christophe Babin

The Polychroma collection was presented at the Palazzo San Domenico in Taormina, Sicily, a former 15th-century monastery turned into an ambitious showroom. The constellation of guests included international celebrities, global ambassadors and friends of the jewellery house, such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lisa Manobal, Viola Davis, and Liu Yifei, who also had the chance to appreciate the new Polychroma creations, presenting them in person at the event.

The presentation soiree on May 19, 2025, began with a gala dinner at the Grand Hotel Timeo and culminated at the Greek Theatre in Taormina, where Polychroma was showcased as a contemporary production in three acts inspired by Greek tragedies. Models wearing the most iconic pieces from the collection and dressed in bespoke gowns by the Italian couturier Francesco Murano moved through a fairytale scenography of majestic arches and veils, choreographed by Sir Wayne McGregor, Resident Choreographer of the Royal Ballet. It was a show in the true spirit of Bvlgari – an eternal celebration of life, La Dolce Vita!
I'd love to add that the Polychroma collection includes extraordinary ultra-exclusive jewellery bags, eyewear and fragrances. The artisans of the House applied their unique expertise in these three directions, proving that the jewellery DNA can be expressed in all available crafts. The diversity of the Polychroma collection is not limited by these jewels, and in another article on Katerinaperez.com, I will tell you about the watch masterpieces that are just as spectacular.
