Celebrating Colour: 20 Uplifting Jewellery Creations by Lisa Nik
If I had to curate a list of my top 10 designers who are totally unafraid of utilising colour in their creations, Lisa Nikfarjam of Lisa Nik would be among the names. Her pieces are perfect for clients who want to buy for themselves – the pick-me-ups, the birthday treats, the 'I just got a new job' jewels. If a classic tennis bracelet is the domain of a man buying for a woman, then Lisa Nik is targeting women expressing themselves without constraint or classicism. Whether you're craving a juicy mandarin garnet or an eye-catching bi-colour tourmaline, here are 20 joyful pieces that exemplify the Lisa Nik approach, as well as the inspiration behind them…
Before we dive in, make sure to read our article dedicated to Lisa Nik in which she talks about the start of her career and the ethos behind her brand. When we published this article in the summer of 2024, bi-colour tourmalines were having a moment and Lisa had created a series of pieces named after cocktails, like Tequila Lime and Strawberry Margarita! This sense of frivolity is definitely evident in the brand's design style, which is all about colourful exuberance. However, beneath all this fun is a brand that really knows its minerals and understands what people want to wear to feel confident, empowered and ready to take on the day. Age, sex and ethnicity don't matter, because the Lisa Nik ethos is all about presenting exciting new colour combinations and materials that anyone and everyone can fall in love with. Don't believe us? Take a look at the incredible mix of gems in our top 20 creations, shared below.

‘Cuba Libre’ Bi-Colour Tourmaline Ring with Stars
Crafted in 18k yellow gold and adorned with the Lisa Nik signature diamond-set star gallery, this ring holds a special place in the brand's celestial-inspired Colors collection. Lisa tells me: "Bi-colour tourmalines have been a favourite of mine for over a decade. I always love it when women ask me if it's a natural stone and how fascinated they are about the colour combinations that can exist in one gemstone. I am always looking for rough material that may exhibit unusual colours, such as this one that transitions from chocolate brown to forest green. Throughout the transition, you can see amber tones." Remember the cocktail-themed names we mentioned earlier? That's why this piece has been given the moniker Cuba Libre, which was inspired by the infusion of rum, Coca-Cola and fresh lime (which perfectly captures the hues in the stone).

Mirror-Cut Suite
Here, we are celebrating not one but three pieces, all of which hail from the Sparkling Mermaid collection. This range had pride of place in the Neiman Marcus Spring Catalogue thanks to its mosaics of pastel-hued beryls, all mirror-cut to appear like puzzle pieces that fit seamlessly together. The necklace is especially evocative of Lisa Nik's signature style because of its asymmetry, which is mirrored in the drop earrings with three pink, blue and pale green gems on each. However, if we had to choose one piece for sheer impact, it would be the bracelet set in warm 18k yellow gold.
Boulder Opal Earrings
Last but certainly not least, let's put the spotlight on a pair of Australian boulder opal earrings from the Lisa Nik Earth & Sea collection. "I call these treasures landscapes of the sea made by the artist Earth," Lisa says. "They miraculously depict shorelines and waves crashing and have a mesmerising organic look." I would describe these earrings as quite unusual for the brand, but there are some identifying characteristics, such as the heart-shaped 'link' crafted in 18k yellow gold. The neat lines of pavé diamonds add sparkle without detracting attention from the stars of the show.

Mandarin Garnet Heart Shaped Ring
Spessartite garnet, also known as mandarin garnet because of its juicy orange colour, is the star of the show in this fabulous ring. The heart-shaped 20-carat centre stone is flanked by two pear-shaped diamond accents and set in 18k gold. There are plenty of heart-shaped jewels in the Lisa Nik collection, especially considering there is a heart built into the Lisa Nik logo (look to the brand's Instagram to see for yourself). Some of our favourites are a range of pendant necklaces in almost every shade of red you can imagine and a pink tourmaline heart-shaped ring from the Rocks collection, set in 18k rose gold.
Druzy Quartz & Rocks Hexagon necklace
Just for fun, Lisa created a collection of brightly coloured Druzy Quartz charms, including this electric blue pendant that's perfect for layering with diamonds and a selection of fun chains. The Rocks Hexagon necklace is another good example of an adaptable pendant, this time from the Rocks collection, with black onyx and diamonds set in 18k yellow gold. The latter collection is all about the fusion of classical and modern styles for a unisex customer, and we think it hits the spot perfectly.

Colors Collection Cocktail Rings
With so many fantastic gemstone cocktail rings to choose from, it was almost impossible to pick just one from this iconic Lisa Nik collection. Indicolite tourmaline, rubellite, and amethyst are all popular picks, whether they are round, cushion-shaped, emerald-cut or set in more geometric settings. Some pieces feature a 'double wave' of pavé diamonds that stretch across the top of the stone, like in the indicolite blue-green tourmaline ring shown here. Finally, let's not forget what Lisa calls "The Lord of Cocktail Rings" – tanzanite – set in the brand's signature heart gallery in 18k white gold. "I pride myself on finding the most electric blue material available for my tanzanite collectors," Lisa shares.
Colors Collection Long Earrings
As you might have guessed, the Colors collection is not limited to just cocktail rings. Here are two new pairs of extravagant earrings from the range inspired by the slinky movements of a caterpillar. First, there's a pair of long, 'shoulder-duster' emerald earrings with alternating oval- and baguette-shaped Colombian beryls set in 18k yellow gold. A nice touch is the heart-shaped loop at the top of the earrings, which links to a detachable diamond-set huggie. The second pair is slightly shorter, with alternating pink tourmalines and rubies, set in 18k rose gold.

Flower Settings and Picky Peridots
Continuing with cocktail rings, there's something special about a rubellite, diamond and 18k rose gold ring with the Lisa Nik flower setting. What stands out is the volume of the prongs holding the gemstone in place and the contrasting 18k white gold and diamond blooms that sit on either side of the stone. Elsewhere, there are some fabulous peridots in the Lisa Nik collection, including a particular 18k gold and diamond ring with a celestial, star-shaped gallery. Lisa tells me: "Peridot is one of those stones that our collectors are super picky about, so we only accept the most neon-toned gems for our pieces."
Aquamarine Necklace and Ring
One of the things I love about Lisa Nik is that she never stands still… there's always something new to get excited about. Case in point is this aquamarine necklace and ring duo – both very recent arrivals – with the finest grade of Brazilian material, accented with diamonds and set in 18k yellow gold. Again, we can see florals built into the ring gallery for a fresh twist. "I love a pop of aqua, as blue is the ultimate symbol of the sea," Lisa shares. "I believe aqua has the power to bring you back to memories of your favourite coastal vacation."

Rainbow Butterfly Rings
While we don't necessarily believe that jewellery is seasonal (who says you can't wear summery bright minerals all year round?), there are definitely pieces that remind us of the warmer months. These Lisa Nik Rainbow Butterfly rings are the perfect examples, set with marquise-shaped diamonds, blue and green gems, muted yellow, pink and red hues, and pink sapphires with round brilliant-cut diamonds. All hail from the Rainbow collection, which also features beautiful pendants, rainbow sapphire bracelets, and hoop earrings.
Asymmetric Collection Earrings
For anyone who likes the whimsy of mismatched shapes and gemstones in their jewellery, the Lisa Nik Asymmetric collection is a good port of call. These earrings from the range feature natural pastel-hued sapphires in shades of pink, blue and green set on a slimline stem of pavé diamonds. Not only do the colours differ, but so do the gemstone cuts, ranging from trilliants to cushion, oval, and subtle heart shapes. Amazingly, Lisa has been making earrings just like this since the brand's inception in 2010, and they show no sign of declining in popularity.

Okay, so we may have taken a few liberties with our total of 20 pieces… but when they are this good, can you blame us? With a jewellery collection fuelled by Lisa Nik, you will have a mineral to match every outfit and every mood, whether you're contemplative, energised, melancholy or joyful. The only challenge you have now is choosing which piece will be at the top of your wish list! Personally, I am tempted by the mandarin garnet heart-shaped ring for its intensely energising boost of orange.
